Sarah Lydford - It was while working as a contemporary dancer that Sarah first encountered Pilates. A back injury led her to change direction and concentrate on applied anatomy and physiology. In order to combine these new skills, she embarked on a three year Pilates apprenticeship with Suzanne Scott, a renowned UK teacher of Pilates.
Sarah qualified, with distinction, in 1999. Complimenting these achievements she further qualified with Moira Stott of Stott Pilates, Canada, the worldwide, leading exponent of Pilates. Sarah went on to found and run her own UK studio and became a Stott teacher trainer teaching Pilates to Physiotherapists.
Over the years, she continued to expand her skills base by working / training with other International Companies, such as Kinetic Control and Performance Stability, concentrating on movement dysfunction and re-training faulty movement patterns.
Sarah qualified as a GYROTONIC® teacher, a movement new to the Nelson / Tasman region. This system promotes free flowing three dimensional movement and combines elements of Yoga, Thai Chi, and swimming. Sarah holds an NZQA equivalent level 6 Diploma in Sports Massage and is also qualified in Tui na - Chinese massage.
Sarah includes all of these elements into her work.
